Modeling Experience

Mathematical modeling provides a better understanding of the processes and interactions that affect a water body. In addition to physical, chemical, and biological processes, we assess climatological and outside environmental factors that affect the fate of a pollutant or chemical in the environment. The models provide the tools to understand and evaluate these interactions in a time and cost effective manner when compared to conducting resource intensive field monitoring studies. In the UAE and elsewhere, environment agencies and departments have developed goals and objectives for marine water use and protection—and more importantly use models to develop and evaluate the impacts of projects and the mitigations alternatives.

Our team has developed and applied a number of state-of-the-art three-dimensional, coupled hydrodynamic and water quality models for Dubai and Abu Dhabi waters. Our modeling capabilities go back in the United States to the early 1960’s and continue to this day in the development of modeling suites that have become standard USEPA adopted models. These models have been extensively calibrated against hydrographic and water quality data collected for numerous projects.
